The sides have a wooden rectangular piece wrapped by canvas to maintain the shape of the pack. There are webbed shoulder straps on an angle attached to the back with adjustable straps. The two Gundowring Fire Brigade tanks may have been used for drinking water for the fire fighters. Their curved side and handles indicate that they were attached (strapped) to horses or a round tank and transported to the fire.This tank was used for drinking water for the fire fighters of Gundowring during the 1923 fire. Some of their equipment was hand made. The Gundowring Fire Brigade was a rural fire brigade operating in 1923.Green rusty metal rectangular tank with an opening at the top but no lid. At the bottom on one side there is an horizontally extended pipe with a flat knob at its end that can be turned to allow the water in the tank to come out.. At the top of the tank is a rectangular hollow metal handle. There is also a handle on the top of the opposite side. There are 2 smaller triangular hollow metal 'handles' at the top of the straight side (for strapping). There is one square hollow metal handle in the middle of the bottom of the same side which is also the curved side. This side is curved vertically. Milk and cream were stored in steel cans for transportation to stores or local dairy companies.The dairy industry is and has been one of the major industries of the Kiewa Valley. This cream can was used on a dairy farm in the Kiewa Valley.Large steel dairy can used for cream or milk. The irregular shaped ring handles are welded on each side in an upright position. The lid is stuck on the can. The flat outer edge of the lid has an inscription. The centre of the lid is indented with a bar shaped handle welded across it to enable lifting.Embossed at the top of the straight sides is "Dairymaster" between the handles on each side. There are many ways of travelling over snow - skis, toboggans, sleds, using snow shoes, machines, horses etc. This 'snow scooter' appears to have been handmade for faster transport (than walking) over snow. Machines with engines 'snow mobiles' are more commonly used nowadays. This snow scooter was possibly used at Falls Creek for moving around the village during winter.Wooden plank curved and lifting at the front and at the end of the back an attached small rectangular wooden framed plastic grid (for non slippery foothold). Underneath plank - at front is a metal rudder that swivels when the handle is turned and at the back are 2 metal fixed 'rudders'.At the front, on top, is a metal stand forming a triangle (for stability) with a steel rod which goes through the plank to the front rudder and up to a bicycle type handle at the top. Cash registers were used by businesses to store the money received for the transactions of goods and for recording the amount of money taken over a period of time e.g.. a day. This cash register is pre 1966, pre decimal currency and includes the halfpenny.Dudley Pigram who managed the Mongan's Bridge Caravan Park used this register. He brought it down to the Mt Bogong Clay Target Club in the 1970's although it is pre decimal currency. Dudley wass a founding member of the Clay Target Club.This brass cash register has a serial number indicating that it was made between 1905 and 1906. It is very heavy. A black metal cash register with glass across the top where the amount of the sale is displayed. There are 2 rows of keys - the top row left to right - 8/-, 6/-, 4/- 2/- with white background, 11d, 9d, 7d, 5d, 3d, 1d with red background. Bottom row left to right - 9/-, 7/- 5/- 3/- 1/- with white background, 10d, 8d, 6d, 4d, 2d, with red background plus a digital half d with a white background. Between the rows on the left is a 'No Sale' key. At the front of the register is a locked tray.Serial number S 33148. B.214KAA on a gold plaque below the glass display in the middle. Dairy farms used cream separators to separate the milk and the cream before using it themselves or selling it to the dairy companies, shops or directly to the public.This cream separator was used by P & R Creamer on their dairy farm in the Kiewa Valley.3 parts - top brass lid with hollow cylinder enclosed across its top and extending beyond its circumference. 2. Stainless Steel hollow cylinders that fit the base and the lid but has 2 long curved spouts extending out - one for the milk and one for the cream to come out 3. Black cast iron stand that houses the gear mechanisms that drive the separator cones. The gear speed reduction wheel is on one side. Wringers were used to wring clothes dry after washing. This is a manual one that can be attached to a trough or container that holds the washing. Later on washing machines were made with the wringer already attached and were operated by electricity. Afterwards washing machines spun the clothes dry as part of their cycle.This wringer was used by a resident of the Mount Beauty township during the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme in the 1940's and 1950's. White metal machine with 2 adjoining cloth cylinders in the middle. The metal rectangular shape forms a frame around the cylinders which have a metal shield above them and a metal flap below them. At the bottom, on each side is a protruding metal vice enabling the machine to be attached to a container. Sewing machines were used by some ladies to mend and make clothes for the family as shops were some distance away and bought clothes were much more expensive. The sewing machines were also used to sew items for fund raising e.g.. Church and School fetes.Used in the Kiewa Valley.The machine has a brown wood veneer base and a lid with a metal handle in the centre of the top. There is a long screw that fits in a hole at the top of the lid. The screw can be lifted out and used to open and take off the lid. Inside there is a black metal machine which is fitted onto the wooden base. There is a compartment in the base, right of the wheel of the machine, which holds an instruction manual and a tube of ""Singer" lubricant for electric machines". The light, above the needle is covered by bakelite. A leather belt runs around the wheel on the right to enable the machine to run. This milking equipment was used in the early days of milking using machines. The dairy industry is and has been one of the major industries of the Kiewa Valley. This equipment was used on local farmers, P & R. Creamer's dairy farm.Set of early mechanical milking cups. 4 cups - 2 each side of 2 hollow metal (steel) rods which are attached to hollow rubber tubes that lead towards the main milking machine. The metal cups have black ends at the opening where they are attached to the cow. Electric fans were used for cooling rooms prior to air conditioning.This portable fan was used on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme by office workers.Green metal swivel fan with base, motor and 4 cream angled 'wings' covered by 3 wire rings connected by 6 pieces of curved wire that cover the blades at the side and front. An electric grey rubber cord is attached. The map shows the names of people living in the parish of Mullindolingong in 1906. These people had leases or licences giving the reader an insight into the number of people in the area and an understanding of the size of their holdings. Infrastructure is also given including shops, schools, churches etc. Presumably it was used by the Ryder family.This map gives an historical insight into the parish of Mullindolingong as it names people and the infrastructure - roads, buildings etc. as it was in 1906. This enables the reader to compare the area at the time with other times and other places and to have an understanding of the early settlers in the area.This is a very old paper or parchment map with wooden rods top and bottom. This traction device was made to increase traction and braking on slippery surfaces eg. snow / ice and can be fitted on two wheels on one or more axles of a vehicle. These devices can fit many wheel sizes. these 'snow chains' were used in the early 1970's.These vehicle traction devices were used at Falls Creek during winter.Rusted steel device used to grip vehicle wheels to enable traction over slippery surfaces. Four steel curved prongs connected at a solid steel rectangular centre. Each prong has teeth at the centre enabling it to fit through and be moved for tightening. The prongs are at 90 degrees to each other. The steel prongs are 'waved' on the outer wheel where they contact the surface of the ground. CWA Tawonga 1946 - 1988 collection of its written history. The C.W.A. aimed to improve the health, welfare and education of women and children in the country. The book gives examples of all activities the members were involved in over the years and their involvement with other CWA groups in the North East of Victoria. Corrector fluid was used to cover typing mistakes before retyping over it upon drying. Correction fluid became available sold with a brush and was drier and therefore quicker to use. Computers then followed with 'delete' keys to correct mistakes.
