Rick Morris established Markwood Estate in 1971 with a philosophy for making wine of very high quality using chemical-free, traditional methods, both in the vineyard and also in the winery. The vineyard is deliberately not irrigated in order to induce more intense flavour into the fruit. Ballarat Sustenance and Relief Workers' Union was a Trades Hall Council-sponsored organisation co-ordinating the self help activities of the Ballarat unemployed during the 1930s depression. (1935-1940) Central Unemployed Committee was established in Melbourne by Victorian Trades Hall Council in 1933. The Committee was known to actively lobby against work for the dole schemes.The file forms part of the history of "unemployed unions" during The Great Depression. It also highlights attempts by previous Australian governments to impose "work for the dole" on to unemployed persons in exchange for unemployment benefits. Ballarat Female Refuge was established by a group of Ballarat women in 1867. It moved from Grant St to the position in Scott's Parade in 1884. The building was used continuously as a refuge until the 1940s. The dragon is the symbol for the Canungra Jungle Training Centre in Queensland. Soldiers were sent here to prepare for fighting in the South West Pacific. The Centre was first established during the 1950's and 60's and is still used today as Australian Army training establishment. It is unknown how the Tramways / East Melbourne RSL came to have this piece. This Australian Womens Army Services (AWAS) Hat belonged to Marion (Tib) Owler. Established in August 1941, the AWAS in consisted of 6000 women by January 1942. Some 20,000 were in service by the end of that same year. They worked in roles including administration, driving, catering, signals and intelligence, and were paid around two-thirds of their male counterparts. The item represents Australian women’s army uniform headdress from WW 2. The hat’s stylish design was an important aspect of the recruiting campaign for the women’s services of 1942.Fur felt brimmed hat. The Anglican church established a tent church on Agitation Hill in 1852. In January 1855 the foundation stone for All Saints was laid on the corner of Forest and MacKenzie Streets. He was killed during a tragic accident during the construction of the Sun Valley T-bar. Pomoca is Swiss based company established by Louis Dufour, a hotelier in Avants, Switzerland. His son Éric developed the production of non-slip skins, and later adhesive skins, as well as many other mountain accessories in1940s.The glue was used by the donor to glue skins on his cross country skis when skiing on the Bogong High Plains.This item is significant as it was an important product used in the ski industry.A small tube of Pomoca skins glue in a blue container with white behind brand section. Cheltenham and Moorabbin are suburbs within the City of Kingston that were originally established as rural market gardening communities The area is bordered by Highett and Mentone. The market gardens, farms and paddocks have gradually been sub-divided into housing and industrial estates. Highett is developed with residential homes but was also the site of major facilities such as the Highett Gas Works. This aerial image covers a diverse section of the City of Kingston, taking in the suburbs of Moorabbin, Cheltenham, Highett and Mentone Residential housing development is prominent along the Frankston Railway line and the area still retains extensive market gardens and paddocks yet to be converted to a large industrial and commercial zone.Aerial photograph of Mentone, Cheltenham and Moorabbin within the City of Kingston.
