The Wattle Glen Picnic Ground was located in a paddock just west of the Wattle Glen railway station (between the station and the creek). It has now completely disappeared except for a dilapidated overgrown building on a rise across the track from the railway platform. This was the picnic ground's main pavilion, which for a short time (circa 1972-1974) also served as the Wattle Glen post office and general store. People attending the picnics received a medallion shaped badge which they wore while at the picnic. Race officials also wore a special badge (with ribbon) to identify them. The photograph of the Raftopoulos (Balatsikos) family and other Ithacans was taken at an Ithacan Picnic some time in the 1930s.Raftopoulos or Raftopulos, is a common Ithacan surname. A family nickname 'paratsoukli', such as Balatsikos, was often used to identify different family branches with the same surname. Personal nicknames, as opposed to family nicknames, were also common. A sepia photograph with a white border a group of 11 people in the country, standing and sitting around a car. Another small group are standing behind on the RHS of the photo. -

The then president, Andreas Papadopoulos is congratulating the three place-getters, from L-R unknown, unknown, Hector Anagnostatos (Andrews). Andreas Papadopoulos was president from 1934 - 1939.
