John Stanley Coltman attended Ballarat College 1913 - 1920; Son of W F Coltman of 208 Clarendon St, Brother of W Lawrie, Owen H & Gwenda. A high achieving student John went on to become Dux of College 1919, School Captain 1920, Captain of cricket 1920, tennis 1918, 1919, 1920, football 1919, 1920, athletics 1919 1920, Stroke of first crew 1919 and 1920. The Coltman Demonstration Room, part of the MacKinnon Wing First Floor, was named in honour of John (1919py) and Owen Coltman (1917). The book was donated back to the school library in 1985. The Charlton RVIB Auxiliary was formed on August 2, 1932 and concluded on June 23, 2004. This collection includes the minute books from 1958 until 1996. The index cards were maintained by RVIB and contain the amount of donations made by the Auxiliary between 1976-1990, as well as the presentations delivered by RVIB employees to Auxiliary meetings between 1978-1985. A report of the Charlton Auxiliary outlines the history from 1932 -1992 for their 6oth anniversary which noted that unfortunately the minute books from 1932 -1958 had been destroyed. The Ladies' Auxiliary of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society 'The Ulysses' was formed in 1944 to raise funds for the Ithacan War Sufferers patriotic Fund. The women were also active raising money for the war effort and sending clothing parcels to Ithaca. After the war the Ladies' Auxiliary directed its efforts to the organisation of social functions many of which raised funds for various philanthropic purposes. In 1985 the Ladies' Auxiliary ceased operation as women were able to be nominated for election to the Executive Committee. Since then women have been continuously been voted members of the executive committee. A social committee, made up of men and women, coordinates social functions.The Ladies' Auxiliary played an important role in providing a social outlet for women to play an active role in the many club's activities over the years. It helped to pave the way for other similar women's groups within the Greek and other migrant communities. The minute book is a record of meetings conducted from 17th August 1949 to 19th October 1955. A foolscap size bound minute book with a maroon binding on the spine and green and black marbled paper on the front and back cover covers. On the front cover there is a white stick-on label with a navy blue border and writing On the inside front and back covers there is a blue and white patterned marbled paper. Books presented to the new Weatherly Library at Ballarat College in 1971 by Mrs Gladys Dalziel MacKenzie.The new Weatherly Library was opened in 1971 and its collection continued to be augmented by donation or bequest. Mrs Mackenzie Gladys Dalziel Weatherly was married to Eng-Cdr Harold Ponsonby Mackenzie, former Ballarat College school council member 1925-1946.. Her son, Alastair J Mackenzie was a member of the Ballarat College Council 1957-73 & Ballarat Clarendon College Council 1974-80. Alastair was significantly involved in the purchase of 1415 Sturt Street. This property was extensively renovated and opened as the Elsie Morison Creative Arts Centre in 1985.
