He struck his head when a car pulled out in front of him at Exhibition Street. Risson said it was worst accident he had seen in 40 years. At the time this caused great concern amongst tramway museums. The problem was later resolved by the Bendigo Trust rebuilding a former scrapped Bendigo Birney tramcar No. 27, partly paid for by the Government for the Adelaide Museum. This tram, Adelaide MTT 1924 G-Type No. 303 is operational at the St Kilda Tramway Museum, Adelaide. Other museums did not receive their promised tramcars. This newspaper was found under the floor during works on Town Hall in Caulfield. It was published in the same year (1930) that the portico was added to the Town Hall. The newspaper publication month coincides with the commencement of works in August 1930. It is possible that this object was deliberately placed underneath the floor at the time. The Sun News Pictorial was established in 1922 and published Monday to Saturday.Copy of The Sun News Pictorial, 18 August 1930. Pages are numbered to 36, but only 24 pages intact. Missing inserts. -

Badge - Badges x 2, Rising Sun, 20th Century
A Rising Sun badge is the official badge of the Australian Army worn on a slouch hat with an upturned section of the brim. The badge was first used in the Boer War by the mounted soldiers and in May 1904 the badge bearing the words "Australian Commonwealth Military Forces" were first used. This badge was worn by Australian soldiers during World Wars One and Two. Today Australian soldiers wear a seventh version of the Rising Sun badge. These Rising Sun badges are a famous symbol in Australia as they were worn by Australian soldiers in two World Wars and have come to represent the fighting spirit of the first ANZACS .1 Bronze badge featuring a crown, scrolls with text and a depiction of sun rays of varying lengths. Image is supplied by Randal Wilson in an email of 15/10/2019 Text of email from Randal Wilson of 15/10/2019: Hi Warren We managed to track down a digital version of the photo taken by the late Bill McNiven of the trams on the Mount Pleasant line (page 76 of The Melbourne Tram Book). We contacted UNSW Press, the book's publisher, which provided the following explanation. Apparently, the team there could not find the scan of the slide submitted for the book. However, a member of the team was able to capture a jpg of page 76 of the book. From my recollection of the original photo, the attached image is very close in terms of its reproduction quality.
