Handmade children's mobile depicting Schwerkolt Cottage ( the farmer and his wife, chickens, horse and cow ) which was used to amuse children. In folder string from straws.In a manila folder, labelled by hand in black lettering 'Schwerkolt Cottage Mobile'. A mobile of red straws and six double sided coloured pictures painted by the artist Rae Matthews, a Society member as an example for visiting children to make. Pictures are of Mr and Mrs Schwerkolt, a cow, a horse, chickens and the Cottage. A copy of the original sheet that the children were given is ND1420. This hat belonged to Mrs Moyra Rasmussen, who lived at 389 St Kilda Street, Brighton for over 50 years with her husband Rae Rasmussen, a bank manager with the State Bank of Victoria. The Mooney sisters, Nell and Ida, were situated beside the Regent Theatre in Collins Street, Melbourne and were well respected milliners and dressmakers. The hat's style is typical of the 1960s. In 1909 the Australian Army Headquarters realized that mapping in Australia was either non existent or inadequate for Military use. It was requested that Australia borrow Survey personnel from the UK Royal Engineers (RE) for a two-year detachment. On 11 April 1910 four RE NCOs arrived in Melbourne comprising CPL J Lynch, and LCPLs AH Barrett, EF Davies and R Wilcox. LCPL Barrett had 12yrs experience with RE. They were aiming at producing eight map sheets per year covering about 7,000 square miles (18,000 square Km) This map sheet of the Newcastle area was produced using plane table methods and was surveyed and hand drawn by LCPL A Barrett Oct - Nov 2010. It was unique because it was now produced on an accurate gridded base and included contouring. Lynch and Davies transferred to the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) whilst Barrett and Wilcox returned to the UK in June 1913. Barrett returned to Australia in 1915 and also enlisted in the RAE and served until 1919.A gridded Map of Newcastle NSW area scale four inches to one mile with 25 feet interval contouring. Donated by Wilfred Dungan on behalf of the Dungan family Collection originally used on the property of the late Dr Rae Dungan in Falls Creek Rd Olinda, purchased in the late 1930s from Olinda pioneers Harry and Minnie Holden. Also on the property of late May Farndon of Farndon’s and Falls Rd Mt Dandenong – aunt of Dr Rae William Dungan and also an early pioneer. Family holidays and weekends involved use of these sorts of farm implements plus working with horses. Post-war, the Olinda hand tools and machinery moved to the Shady Creek, Nilma North area where bush, pasture and cows had replaced the Olinda property. Wilfred well remembers being on one end of the crosscut saws cutting fence posts, logs and timber under “the tireless and vocal instruction” of a red headed local Darnum Rd legend called Harry Collyer. “He drove an old Rugby car and nearly pulled me through the logs with every cut!” Curved blade, painted black. The MPC was used in US and Australian bases and was not used in the general Vietnamese community. This was so US Dollars could not make their way into the black market etc. Every few months the MPC was renewed, differant styles, colours etc and old notes were handed in and new ones issued..1) A4 white sheet with 5 Military Payment Currency notes attached via photo corners. The notes are US Military showing 25 cent, 10 cent, & 5 cent. A typed write up is attached to the RHS detailing the reason for & the use of the notes. Anne Galvin was one of Bendigo's best known charity workers and she used her first speech as Mayoress (1944) to indicate her intentions to assist mothers and children. This recipe book includes contributions by the Mayoress of the day (Mayoress Rae), Television Hostesses Corinne Kirby and Ruth Nye and Mrs Bolte and Lady Brooks. The film title indicates made by ABC but no other information. There is no sound on the film. It was digitised in 2023 by Aidem Media and the resulting .mp4 is attached to this record. Two newspaper items giving further information are also attached - one has a number of photos which match scenes in the film, verifying the occasion
