Bell was presented to the Melbourne Legacy Club by the departing president E.R.F. Serman in 1929. It was used during Comradeship Committee meetings.E.R.F. Serman was the Melbourne Legacy Club president in 1928-1929. Comradeship Committee meetings were very important to the Legatees.18 Pounder Shell casing that has been polished and had a small brass hook welded to the base. The casing has been split and bears the signs of being hit with a hammer. There is an inscription engraved on the front. The shell is hung from a brass arch which has been mounted to a wooden base. Two small brass hooks on the base act as a mount for the mallet. The brass arch and hooks are attached to the wooden base via flat head screws from the underside. Paper sign titled "Ballarat Tramways Alteration to Time-Table" dated 16/3/1970 that has been mounted with a Perspex front onto a manufactured wooden board with a blackened edge and secured with steel mounting clips and a hanging bracket. Used to exhibit or show a SEC timetable alteration announcement or sign that from the given date, a new timetable would apply from that date for Week days and Saturdays. Signed by F.K. White, Manager and printed by Alex King & Sons Ballarat. Original sign is understood to be slightly larger than that mounted on the object. Set of two drawings (BA-T8-8100/1 and BA-T8-8100B) showing the installation of tail lights on SEC tramcars and modifications to the battery/trolley pole relay and battery. Both are dated 15/11/1949 and signed by the Manager Ballarat Branch. Robert Spear Hudson (d. 1884) invented the first dry soap powder in 1837 and called it extract of soap. Following his death the company was taken over by his son and later (1908) sold to Lever Bros. a subsidiary of Uni lever. In the 1920s and 30s, rowing on the Yarra was a very popular weekend pastime. Each of the early boats was individually named in gold letters on its varnished wooden backboard. This is all that remains of one of the Thames pulling boats from Burns' Boatshed at Studley Park which was destroyed by a falling tree in a storm. Their entire fleet of rowing boats has now been replaced by fiberglass boats.Varnished wooden backplate of a rowing boat.
