This album containing 50 photographs depicts a year at the Mission in 1928: Wedding of the Dora Walker with Harry Simpson on 14 February. Arrival on the RMS Maloja Two photographs are missing.Pre Great Depression, 1928 was a difficult year in Melbourne and also for the Mission. Ships were rare on the wharfs meaning seamen were also rare in the missions. However they started the fundraising for the extension of the 1888 Port Melbourne building which was becoming too small. At the end of the year, Reverend Weller announced he was appointed assistant in London. He and his wife Alexina left in January 1929 after five years. Back to Port Melbourne celebrations were an early type of Port Melbourne Festival.One of two festival badges from 1932 : tin, white, printed in brown: "Back to Port Melbourne - Admit to Gymkhana on Station Pier - Afternoon & Evening - Mayor's Appeal", identical except for date: one April 7th", this one May 7th". Routes and traffic arrangements for the visit to Victoria on 26 May - 7 June 1920 by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). The visit was to officially thank Australia for the support to Great Britain during World War I and to strengthen the links between Australia and the Empire. Originally located on the Queenscliff Pier from 1856. It was known as the waiting shed for registered fishermen. It was moved from Queenscliff pier to near slipway in 1960, then to Princess Park in the 1970s and to the museum in late 1980. The interviews were recorded in 2000 by Bronwen Gray and Alan Young for the production of Unreserved, Stories from Truganina Explosives Reserve, animated stories from past residents, workers and interested people of the Reserve (subject to copyright 2004). Edgar James (Jim) Melmoth began work at the Truganina Explosives Reserve at age 19 (1952) as part of the maintenance crew – painting, tram line maintenance, storm damage clearance. He helped build the pier extension and the water tower. In this interview he describes some incidents and some amusing stories of the clysdale horses.
