Photograph shows W2 class tram No. 509 at the Collins St terminus at Spencer St. The driver is attending to the trolley pole rope. The tram has the destination of Deepdene and is yet to be fitted with route number boxes. The tram was built as a W2 entering service 13/6/1928 and was fitted with route number boxes in March 1930. Memo dated 6/5/1918 about closing revenue accounts at Elwood depot when the end of the month falls on a Sunday. It would appear that the accounts were being closed off on the following Monday, rather than on Sunday. This has become a long-standing practice. Set of two sheets of paper tickets - 3 x 1d and 2 x 1.5d, unnumbered for the Sandringham - Beaumaris electric tramway - possibly printed as a sample for discussion. This style of ticket was used for child fares. The reference pages 129 to 130 and figure 6-24 refer. This shortlived tramway 1926 to 1931 was known as "B Division" and would have allowed separate financial accounting. Set of six miscellaneous tickets. All used. Were recovered from Geelong tram No. 25, later No. 28, during reconstruction work by the donor. The tram had been sold to Melbourne Electric Supply Co. in 1928, formerly MMTB / PMTT No. 66 1 - Scholars concession - MMTB Electric tramways - No 581616 - note there is no section 1 mark on the ticket, which would not have allowed City travel. 2 - Scholars concession - MMTB - Prahran Malvern & Hawthorn Electric tramways - No 778564 - as above 3 - Transfer ticket - all Eastern suburbs routes - No. 581298 4 - Employees pass with conditions of travel on the rear 5 - VR St Kilda Brighton tramway - for St Kilda and Dickens St No. 265968 6 - TRAK Motors - 6d on red paper - part torn number 3897 with conditions of travel on the rear. Ticket issued by the Victorian Railways that allowed the passenger to do a round trip from Brighton Beach to St Kilda via the Electric Street railway or tramway and then return using a train via Flinders St station. Child first class. Appears to have been in album or adhered to a board - shows paper damage on the rear. See reference page 120 and for a related image, figure 6-14. Tramway Pass for a Totally and Permanently Disabled Soldier pass No. 505 made out to R H Prentice of Prahran and signed by R A Spencer MMTB Secretary. Has the availability conditions, and is available until 30/6/1948. Mr Bob Prentice was a tramway enthusiast who collected VR Tramcar No. 20, photographs and items and authored several small books about Victorian Tramways.
