A photograph of the Flume over the Plenty River at Mernda.

The flume and iron aqueduct over the Plenty River at Mernda was constructed 1878/79 to replace the 1850's bridge destroyed by floods in 1878. The flume is part of the Yan Yean Water Supply System that originally supplied water to Melbourne. It remained in service until 1960.

Significance

Listed on The National Trust Heritage Register.
