The DC3 Skyliner manufactured in 1942, served in USAF and RAAF as a Douglas C-47A and later operated as a civilian DC-3 by TAA. TAA's first CV-240 airplane arrived in Melbourne in September 1948 and shortly thereafter flew on a demonstration flight from Melbourne to Sydney carrying 40 passengers in 1hr and 45min. This airplane proved very successful and helped TAA to become profitable. The de Havilland Australia DHA-3 Drover is a small transport aircraft that was built by de Havilland Australia (DHA) in the 1940s and 1950s. TAA received the first two of its eventual three Drovers in 1952 - the third in 1956. The Drover became one of the types of planes used by the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the 1950s.
