Significance

The cash account books are both historially and socially significant as the entries give an insight into the growth of the company. They also detail payments from both local and government offices, overseas customers, and significant companies, associations, and people.

Physical description

Hard cover accounts book with faded dark green cloth outer covers and mustard-coloured corners and spine. Faded dark green and red marbling present on fore edges. Inner covers have decorative wine-coloured marbling. Book has 910 pages total, mostly unused.

Inscriptions & markings

Two labels affixed to spine. First is hand-written on a white label, and reads 'Purchase.' The second is a gold and red label and is part of the book itself, reads 'LEDGER.'
