Cthonic Spirits
Gavin Malone
'Cthonic Spirits'
Wood
Artist’s Statement: "The work engages the human psyche and its primal connectedness to the land. Small human-like figures of indigenous and non-indigenous timbers participate in the changing moods of land and sky.
They allude to the human ‘spirit of place’, Indigenous and colonising, and a human presence over extended time. They watch, listen and speak, quietly. They tell a story. Gavin is an Adelaide artist, teacher & writer involved in ecological and cultural sustainability, and the indigenous nature of place."
