These brooches were made by Hans Beck, a German Templer who was born and lived in Palestine. When WWII broke out, he was sent to Australia on the "Queen Elizabeth" in 1941 and interned in Tatura Camp 3. His wife and children were left behind in Palestine. His daughter Ingrid said that although they were behind barbed wire, they were safe. Hans worked as a manufacturing jeweler in Sydney after his release from Internment. He sent for his family on 1947. A 1 x wooden triangular shape with a small four petal flower made of tiny white shells. A metal stick pin is attached to the back. B 1 x wooden heart shape. Two flowers on stems made from small pink shells. Each flower has five petals. A group of four tiny white shells sit between the flowers. A vase is carved into the bottom of the heart. The centre flower has only one petal. A bow of tiny white shells at the base of the brooch. Small safety pin attached to back. D 1 x wooden round shape. A cluster of shells in a floral pattern. Dewrang Guest House is situated at the corner of The Crescent and the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road at Sassafras. It belonged to the Green family who owned the garage and coach service which operated from the site of the current Sassafras Tavern. Dewrang burned down in 1931. The property was owned by Mr J Green, of Kallista, and was occupied by Mr R Gros. Mr Gros and family lost all their belongings. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.1721 - Block of 200 tickets - black ink on off white paper, denomination 13c, lettered B278000 to B 278199, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in black ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket.
