Record - vinyl based with paper card jacket and plastic record cover - 331/3 rpm microgroove vinyl record, or "LP", titled "Destination City". Jacket has a stylised view of the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets and Flinders St railway station with W2 233 in the top right hand corner. On the rear are extensive details of each of the 11 recording tracks featuring various trams around Melbourne. The vinyl disk itself has a blue label with the title, speed and side number. Produced and recorded by Ormond Slater and Ewen Cameron in 1969 with the assistance of the Australasian Post and the TMSV. Two copies held - 2nd copy added 18-9-15 - was on display in Main room until April 2015 - from Norm Cross. Report titled "Ropes - Trolley", dated October 1954 though has a date stamp on the first page of the report itself of 26/10/1955, prepared by the MMTB Testing Department, Report No. R7/1/43. Looks at the insulation resistance offered by trolley ropes when dry and wet, new and used ropes and the possibility of causing electric shocks. Gives a reference to a previous August 1952 test. Undertook examination of the ropes, electrical measurements and electrical measurements of the human body. Used to revise fares, parcel and luggage and charter rates in for Bendigo and Ballarat from 1/3/1963. Page 1 gives a list of amendments by date to the original by-law of 9/3/1937. Defines Pensioners and Child fares. Booklet dated January 1962, SEC Sealed the document 18/1/1962, Governor-In-Council approval granted 15/1/1963 and came into force 1/3/1963. Six copies held. Report by Hector H Bell Junior of the MMTB early 1949, titled "Street passenger transport system of Geelong Urban Area". Looks at the history of public transport in Geelong, tramway data, financial analysis, the Geelong bus system, buses servicing the North Shore industries - principally the Ford Works, the condition of the bus fleet, taxi and private car hire services, functions of a street transport authority, town planning, populations and traffic surveys, relative values of passenger vehicles, trolley buses, industry and recommendations. Said the tramway system was obsolete, should be a rail service between North and South Geelong, set up a street transport body, replan the Geelong railway station, additional roads to service the North Shore area. Refers to attachments. Has a list of people involved in the preparation of the report. Has two tear-out slips that were to be signed by either the conductor or the car driver. Gives 17 rules for drivers and 18 rules for conductors. Set of five items associated with a collision between Ballarat No. 37 and a truck loaded with baled hops on Thursday 15 April 1954. The tram was driven by David Kellett, conductor Herbert Ward. Probably published in The Courier, Friday 16 April 1954. Newspaper cuttings give details of the accident. Accident at the corner of South and Drummond Sts. Truck driver - Stanley Eaton; .1 -Newspaper cutting from The Courier with a photo of the front of the tram and the back of the overturned truck and the story - gives details of the crews, addresses and truck driver - note the story about the recovery of the tram. .2 - photos of the scene, titled "Sweeping up the wreckage" .3 - cutting from The Courier, "In Retrospect" - dated 25/10/2008 - see 50 years about the Ballarat Victorian Aero club preparing to replace an old tramcar with a new building. Set of destination indicator equipment that was fitted to Z3 and A class trams. Each item consists of various electronic parts contained within a metal case that could have been cabled together. Equipment manufactured by (Carl) C. Brose of Wuppertal Germany and maintained by Font Electronics of Melbourne - some items have the manufacturers details on them along with the details of the maintenance company and serial numbers etc. Photo .1 - shows the set of equipment as placed on display in the training room. .1 - set of two route number boxes, three individual controlled blinds, driven by a motor and control gear. Has a Fluro light fitted internally. Negative - Tram 184 - Epsom Road level crossing, early 1920s
Black and white photograph of M class tram 184 crossing the Epsom Road, Flemington level crossing. Shows the overhead arrangement and structures on either side of the road to provide power to either the trams or the trains. The small signal box is in the view as well as the hand gates. In the background is the roof of another tram going the other way. The level crossing was electrified on 18-8-1919 and abolished in mid-1925 when the underpass was built. See Weekly Notice Extracts 1894-1994, published 1996. The tram was sold to the SEC in 1935 and became Ballarat No. 31. Photo of the Level Crossing in Epsom Road, Flemington or Ascot Vale showing the overhead arrangement and structures either side of the road to provide power to either the trams or the trains. The small signal box is in the view as well as the interlocked gates. A NMETL saloon tram, No. 4, is crossing the railway lines. Photo late 1919 or 1920. Has the words "VR Tramway Crossing at Epsom Rd showing insulators in tram line and special crossing fitting." The level crossing was electrified on 18-8-1919 and abolished mid 1925 when the underpass was built. See Weekly Notice Extracts 1894-1994, published 1996. Notebook containing 18 pages of cuttings from The Age or The Argus of the cable tram traffic returns for each month, unless not seen by the collector. Gives the Date, newspaper cutting source, receipts, passengers carried and mileage, along with whether it was an increase or decrease from the previous report. Commenced Nov. 1912 and finished Nov. 1917.
