This is a photograph of the site and the remains of the Lochton flour mill which was situated on a horse shoe bend along Deep Creek at Bulla. Captain William Morrison Hunter took up land along Deep Creek and built his home in 1850.He opened the flour mill in 1856, which was worked by a number of millers until it ceased operations in 1961.Flour milling was one of the early industries carried out in the Sunbury and Bulla district. Dr Leslie Koadlow AO (1920-2006), Rheumatologist, was the Medical Director of the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Hospital. In 1968, he co-founded the Rheumatism and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV) with his secretary, Alice Petty, and one of his patients, Mollie Riches (1896-1979). This photo of Dr Koadlow and Mollie Riches appears on page 11 of the Vol. 9, July 1978 edition of RAAV's quarterly newsletter, News Review. It is captioned, "Vision Becomes Reality. Co-founders, Dr Les Koadlow and Mrs Mollie Riches, together again at RAAV's new Action Centre in the grounds of Royal Talbot, where the idea for RAAV was born." The photo accompanies an article titled, "LINCOLN INSTITUTE HELPS OUT". The article states that RAAV approaced the Lincoln Centre's Department of Educational Resources to enlist the services of their photographers to take a photo of Dr Koadlow for a press release. Photos of the unveiling of a memorial to Stan Savige in Morwell Victoria on 31st August 2006. It is a bronze bust mounted on a granite pedestal, it was installed in Legacy Place. The inscription on the front says: THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS OF MORWELL TO HONOUR A GREAT HUMANITARIAN AND GREAT AUSTRALIAN Photos include the President of Legacy, Bill Rogers; Liza Price, Mayor of Morwell; Paul Buckley, La Trobe Valley CEO and a photo of Sir Stanley Savige KBE, CB, DSO, MC, ED. founder of Legacy who was born in Morwell 26.6.1890. He died 15.5.1954. The photos were sent to Legacy by Stan Wright. The inscription on the back (according to Monumentaustralia.org.au) says: A Distinguished Service Order (DSO) was awarded to Captain Stanley Savige, for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the retirement of Assyrian refugees from Sain Keleh to Tikkan Tappah between 26th and 28th July 1918; also at Chalkaman on the 5th and 6th August 1918. He was in command of a small party sent to protect the rear of the column of refugees who being hard pressed by the enemy. By his energy, resource and able dispositions the hostile troops, many of whom were mounted, were kept at a distance, although in greatly superior force. He hung on to position after position until nearly surrounded, but on each occasion extricated his command most skilfully. Permewan Wright & Co Ltd were one of the biggest shipping agents on the Murray in the 2nd half of the 19th century. They were a cartage company established in 1856 in Geelong, who opened one of its twenty Victorian branches at Echuca in 1875. These two notebooks come from Christ Church in Warrnambool. One contains the cash transactions of the Christ Church wardens (Folio 78) with the National Bank of Australasia (1932-1938) and the other contains the financial transactions of the Christ Church Parochial Missionary Association, Warrnambool (1933-1940). The Anglican Christ Church in Warrnambool was opened in 1856 with the addition of the nave in 1860 and the square tower in 1882. Photograph of a painting of Katherine Rose Beale (1795-1856), wife of Major Anthony Beale. The Beale family arrived in Port Phillip in 1839 and c.1841 established an estate named "St Helena" to the north of Melbourne. Katherine is buried in the St Katherine's Anglican Church Cemetery in Greensborough. This book, edited by Donald MacLeod, was given in 1883 as a prize to Annie Egerton by the Rev. W.H. Scott for Bible Knowledge. Annie Egerton was a pupil at the Allansford State School. John Jones was the Head Master at this school from 1867 to 1891. The school was opened in December 1856 as a National School and is still operating. No other details concerning Annie Egerton have been found.This book is of importance as it is a 19th century book given as a prize to a pupil of the Allansford School in 1883 for her Bible knowledge. It is particularly interesting that a prize for religious knowledge was given in the 1880s to a pupil at a secular State School. It is also interesting to note the type of book given to a primary school girl in the 19th century – a book with strong moral overtones and some heavy instructional articles. This is a hard cover book of 836 pages. It has a dark green and black cover patterned with an ornamental pattern and gold lettering contained within a square box on both the cover and the spine. The inside front and back pages have a mottled green flower pattern. The edges of the pages have a gilt finish. The book has a bookplate on the inside cover and the book contains an Index of Contents, short stories, articles on various topics and an Index of Authors. There are many black and white illustrations and sketches throughout the text. The first illustration has a piece of tissue paper in front of it. Specimen Cottage in Hargreaves Street Bendigo was built by stonemason James Brierley in 1856. He purchased the land at the first land sales in 1854. It is possibly the earliest building still standing in Bendigo. Redruth Gaol was constructed in 1856. It was the first South Australian gaol to be built outside Adelaide. The goal was built to house 30 prisoners (male and female). It closed in 1897 at which time the prisoners were transferred to Gladstone Gaol. The former Redruth Gaol was renovated and started a new life as a Girls' Reformatory in 1897 and closed in 1922. This gaol was used in the film 'Breaker Morant'.A number of colour photographs featuring a stone gaol.

Fanny Swan (formerly Wood, nee Poole) came to Gippsland in the 1840s with her first husband, William Wood, where they became proprietors of the Shakespeare Hotel at Stratford. William Wood died in 1855, and in 1856 she married Samuel Swan. Together they acquired considerable property in and around Stratford. Samuel Swan died in 1880 at Stratford, and Fanny Swan died at Stratford in 1895.This illuminated address which documents the final payment for the Wesleyan Church building in 1892 has historic significance for Stratford Historical Society as it is located in the actual building. It also has social significance for the township as Mrs Fanny Swan was one of the earliest and best known business leaders in the area running the iconic Shakespeare hotel/boarding house for many years. It has aesthetic significance as an example of a illuminated address produced on a printing press with gold ink, rather than the usual handwritten form. White wooden frame containing an illuminated address to Mrs S. Swan from the Wesleyan Church at Stratford 2 January 1892. It is press-printed in gold ink on what appears to be a blank, pre-printed poster. It reads: Stratford, 2 January 1892 Mrs S. Swan, Stratford Dear Madam, We, the Minister and Trustees of the Stratford Wesleyan Methodist Church desire to tender you our most sincere thanks for your very generous donation of Fifty Pounds handed to us to-day by Mr George Poole in aid of clearing off the debt on our church.
