Share certificate for twelve syndicate shares (= 1/12th share in Bryants Gully Gold Mining Company ) purchased by Samuel Lewers, 16th August 1899. Signed A.M. Barry and A.J. N. Horan, who were the "Applicants for Lease". According to an undated inscription on the back of the certificate, half of the shares were later transferred by Samuel Lewers to A.C. Box and scissors were afterwards presented to Ida Lewers, a daughter of Samuel Lewers, first Manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Linton.Small, oblong, black box, with opening stud at front. Built 1860 as Bank of New South Wales. Sold 1903 to Mr Lewers (son of Samuel Lewers, first manager of the bank in Linton). Operated as antique shop by Mrs Surman 1950s-1981. This is understood to be a photograph of William Ochiltree and Samuel Ambrose Lewers, the children of William Ochiltree Lewers (b. 1867) and his wife Caroline, nee Murrell.
