This tram was built in 1914 for thr Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust and was No 42. It was sold to the State Electricity Commission in 1951 and renumbered 39. When the Ballarat Tramways closed in 1971, it was purchased by the Lismore Lions Club and displayed in a recreational reserve until purchased by the Museum in 1976 and converted into a museum display and souvenir centre located at the depot until the new Museum building was opened in 2022. Ballarat Tram 26 travelling around Lake Wendouree. This tram was built in 1916 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust and numbered 5. It was renumbered 111 by MMTB in 1920. In 1930 it was sold to the Electric Supply Company and again renumbered to 23. Passed to the SEC in 1934. Built in 1916 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust, it ran as Tram No.10. Renumbered 116 by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board in 1920. It was sold to the State Electric Company of Victoria in 1931. The number became its present number 27. The tram continued in service until 1971 when the SEC operated system closed. Tram 19 was built in 1915 by Meadowbank Manufacturing Sydney. It was a single truck drop end closed combination. Tram 39 was built in 1914 by Duncan and Fraser for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1951 and was part of the SEC's consolidated tramcar fleet. It was converted to a static museum display and souvenir shop. In 1971 it went to the Lions Club of Lismore. Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society acquired it in 1976. (See No. 10755 for a series of 16 photographs of the return of tram 39 to Ballarat. These were taken by Campbell Duncan) The photograph shows Tram 39 and others at the Sturt Street holding depot. This was located in Sturt Street between Greville Street and Lydiard Street. This was where the trams waited to cater for the peak travel times. The numbers on the other trams cannot be identified. The tram in the centre is Number 41. Photo taken in the Depot Shed in July 1971 prior to the closure of the tramway. It was built in 1914 by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide. Originally in Geelong and came to Ballarat when their trams stopped running in 1956. When Ballarat trams stopped in 1971, Tram 41 went to Horsham City Council for the Wimmera River Improvement League. The tram was converted inside and became a smokers' lounge within Olde Horsham Restaurant. The tram body was built in 1916 for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. It ran as Tram 75. In 1927 it was sold to the Melbourne Electric Supply Co. Ltd and ran as Geelong Tram 29.The State Electricity Commission tranferred the tram to Ballarat in 1936 and it became Tram 14. The tram is the property of the Ballarat City Council and on loan to the Museum. This photograph was taken in December 1971. It shows the tram being shunted from road "1" to road "3" by hand and by J Witlers' landrover.
