The Tawonga branch of the C.W.A. commenced on the 7th Feb. 1946 and often combined activities with the other branches in the Kiewa Valley. The C.W.A. aimed to improve health, welfare and education for women and children in the country. Women living in Tawonga were mostly on farms and, in 1946, when the branch commenced would have been feeling more remote with WW11 having an effect on available workers and the well being of the women and children.Slim rectangular shaped gold badge with a 'v' shape at each end. Mt Beauty Workman's Club was formed in 1945, re-built and opened in 1954 and again in 1962 and 1968. The Bowls club was founded in 1970 and later was affiliated with the Victorian Ladies' Bowling Association (VLBA) and the North Eastern District LBA in 1974. There were strict rules regarding the Bowlers' uniform.The Mt Beauty Workman's Club was built by the SECV in 1945 to service their employees on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. As Mt Beauty grew it became the centre of activity for residents including the Bowling Club. The Mt Beauty Wine and Dine club existed during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme as part of the social life. These cards were owned by Nesta Drew nee Cooper. The Tawonga District General Hospital published its Annual report and Statement of Accounts each year. It also acknowledged and published a 'List of Contributors'. The Tawonga District General Hospital was located at Tawonga before being moved to Mount BeautyA comparative history of the Tawonga District General Hospital in the years 1964 and 1976 with an insight into its activities and finances. Roper's Hut belonged to the Roper family who brought their cattle up onto the Bogong High Plains during summer. Their hut was visited and used by skiers and walkers. The log books kept a record of their visits over the years.The log books gave an insight into the activities of visitors, the weather, the frequency, etc. The case was a safe place for storage of these books.Light brown vinyl case with zip fastener around three sides and partly at the back on each side. There is a separate pocket at the top with a zip fastener. There is a flap to fasten the case across the centre top and a leather handle. The Tawonga post office was officially opened on 4th October 1879. It had several locations (mostly near the centre of town) over the years and several operators including local families such as the Ryders, the Drummonds, the Coads, the Hollonds and more recently the Talbots and Ryders. With the creation of the township of Mount Beauty in 1946 the SECV made every effort to provide wholesome activities for the 3000+ people suddenly living in the remote new community. GRA-Y was an American system of Gymnastics for men and boys under the umbrella of the YMCA. The Gra-Y club continued on to the 1980s.This book is the manual used to train leaders and was used continually through the years. The Mt Beauty Progress Association was an important community service group that raised an enormous amount of money to buy equipment etc. for local community activities ie. kinder, schools etc. It supported the community with projects and events. At the beginning of the KHES, a team of facilitators from the YMCA under the supervision of a Mr A. Clarke, were co-opted to organize social and sporting activities for the thousands of workers relocated to the remote work site.The Athletics Club was one of the first clubs to organise activities and Boxing and allied disciplines, weight-lifting, wrestling and gymnastics were very popular. Mt Beauty Tennis Club circa 1956. The original 4 courts had an asphalt surface complimented by grass courts in the grassed area between the Primary School and the courts. The written and illustrated history of Guides (11 to 14) and Brownies (7 to 10 year olds) in Tawonga commencing in 1951. Lord Baden-Powell first organized the groups for girls in c1914. It was to enable girls to be involved in scouting eg. camping, hiking and similar activities. Guides and Brownies were community organizations for the girls living in Tawonga from 1951. The Mt Beauty Drama Group held concerts/ pantomimes at the Mt Beauty Community Centre. It was a valuable social outlet for the members because at that time the only entertainment in Mount Beauty was the pictures on a Saturday night. It was also an alternative to playing sport for some. It was formed in 1958 and expanded to include 20 ladies and 8 men. It ceased in the 1970s. Ref. Table tennis entertained them during their leisure time.
