This is an East German cap which presumably would have been worn by a German airman. It is a fairly recently made piece, dating to the 1980’s or 90’s.This cap has historic significance as a piece of East German airforce uniform. Itnis a fairly recently made piece, dating to approximately the 1980’s-90’s. It is also in excellent condition.A grey fabric peaked cap with fine blue trims and a black plastic head cover. There is a silver fabric rope looped around a silver metallic stud on either side if the cap. Attached to the front/centre of the cap is a metallic ornament depicting the east German logo in red and silver, surrounded by a silver wreath and wings. Above this is a silver metallic ornament depicting a propeller surrounded by two curved pieces of foliage. There is a faux leather strap on the interior and a square of lighter grey fabric stitched into the underside of the cap. This contains inscriptions. There is also a round yellow sticker on the interior side of the plastic head cover. Long khaki coloured heavy coat. Thick, sharp angled collars. Each collar has a split half way down and a small metallic hoop attached to the lower middle section of the high parts of the collars. Each shoulder has a lapel that is fastened with a plastic button. The coat is double breasted. There are three grey buttons for use on the right and three grey buttons for show on the left. There is also a spare button on the inside left front section near the breast area. There are two pockets on the front that are angled with the highest point near the centre and the lowest point near the hips. There is a small section of spare fabric attached with two small plastic buttons to the inner left of the jacket near the breast. The arms, underarm and upper back section contains an inside khaki coloured lining of thinner, most likely cotton fabric. Attached to this at the base of the neck is a satin or synthetic fabric label with inscriptions in black ink. Above this there is a thin strip of fabric attached at either short end to use for hanging the coat on a hook. At the back of the coat there is a single pleat stretching from the base of the neck to the base of the coat. Approximately half way down the pleat there is a split in the fabric that is fastened with two plastic buttons. At the waist there are two fabric flaps that fasten together at the back with three buttons.The label attached on the inside at the base of the neck reads: “KINDRED MANUFACTURING / PTY LTD. / QLD / 1083” There is then a broad arrow followed by: “B406-66-093-1812 / SIZE 109 / TO FIT CHEST 100cm / NAME.................../ SERVICE No......................”

This uniform belonged to Sapper Hughes 3795948 of the Royal Australian Engineers Corps. By the date on the uniform, it is assumed that he served C 1968.This uniform has significance as an example of a uniform worn by soldier ranks for daily work and dress parades.Khaki coloured long trousers with attached suspenders. They have a button up front (5 brown plastic buttons). There are two pockets on either side of the trousers and one button up pocket on the back right with a flap that is fastened with a single brown plastic button. There are three extra brown plastic buttons on the back exterior of the waistband and six belt loops on the whole length of the waist band. The interior pocket fabric is more light weight and a slightly more green in colour. The interior of the right back pocket includes a white patch of fabric with printed inscriptions and further inscriptions written in black ink just above. The suspenders are composed mostly of blue, grey, beige, black and cream striped thick fabric. There are also silver coloured metallic components (which include inscriptions) and leather sections, most of which have a reddish/brown coating on the exterior and a white coating on the interior. One leather component has inscriptions in black ink on the interior as opposed to a white coating. The suspenders are attached to the trousers by six brown plastic buttons on the interior of the waistband. This jacket is part of the dress uniform of a Major in the Army Reserve. Major Bernard Farley who owned this jacket wore it to official functions in the Mess dining room. Floor length dress of royal blue silk fabric with a metallic thread forming a tinsel like pattern. There is a V neck at front with a high round neck at the back. The bodice front is made from two pieces with a centre seam. The bodice is attached to midriff panel of royal blue satin. At the front the bodice is gathered slightly onto the panel with a V shape at t centre front of the panel. At the hip line centre front the midriff panel narrows and then widens and the panel extends to the hem. The centre panel is divided and has a godet insert in the centre. Fifteen decorative fabric covered buttons with roulette loops are attached at centre of midriff panel. The back of the bodice is one piece is gathered slightly into a high waisted skirt made up of four gored pieces. The side opening (21 cm) at the waist on the LHS has three metal hooks with cotton loops and two press studs. The long sleeves are set in with lily point finish at the wrist. Object. Blue, damask weave fabric sash, 240 ms long(including fringing) woven with a rose design, and with a .8 cm wide white satin-finish stripe, just inside the side edges. A gold type metallic fringing, 5 cms deep, finishes each end. A woven panel just off centre of the sash, includes eleven figures, including children, three shields, a globe hand and heart. Radiating from the words- FRIENDSHIP LOVE AND TRUTH is an eye like shape, radiating light. At the lower edge of the panel, woven into the fabric are the words, MANCHESTER UNITY of the INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS. Above the woven panel is an ornate metal star, 10 cm x 10 cm, with eight points, and made from silver metal sequins and coiled wirework. Centre of the star is padded to a height of 1 cm, covered in satin, sequins and wirework in a circular shape. A 7 cm long metal tassell hangs from the lower edge of star. This flying suit would have been worn by a pilot of the Royal Australian Air Force. It is a drill suit and most likely was not used in active service. This flying suit dates to 1988. It is no longer manufactured and is an historically significant article of military clothing. It is also in good condition.Olive drab coloured overalls. Full length sleeves and full length legs. Two pockets on the front of each leg. One zip at the front of each leg with extra fabric in the interior for fabric width enhancement. One access zip on each hip. Two diagonal breast pockets, either side of chest. One small pocket on each arm. All pockets are fastened with metallic brass colour zips. Another pocket on the left upper arm with stitched sections for storing pens. A silver coloured metallic pen holder is clipped and stitched into this section. One epaulet on each shoulder, each fastened with a brass coloured metallic stud. Regular shirt collar. One long zip at the front from the groin to the collar. This has two zip handles, each with a thin piece of leather attached to aid zipping. A patch with inscriptions machine stitched to nape of neck interior. This mask would have presumably been manufactred and used as a gas mask during World War One conflicts. It is presumably British made. It could also possibly date to the World War Two era.This item is a piece of protective equipment which presumably dates to the World War One era. As a surviving artefact from the Great War, this item holds historic value.Gas mask with rubberised light brown fabric face cover, plastic goggles for seeing, straps for fastening and a nozzle to attach to a canister. The canister is now missing. The goggles have corroded steel rings around themwhich protrude sloghtly from the mask. The light brown fabric covered rubber nozzle is attached to a black metallic component, which is attached to the mask with a circle of black rubber in between the metal and the mask. There is also another short piece of rubber attached to this black metallic component which is folded and positined between the nozzle and the mask. There is an inscription On the exterior of the mask, where the nose would ordinarilly be positioned. There is also an inscription in the interior on an almost full circular piece of fabric which is stitched into the same posion. This has a circle of metal stitched beneath it, which protrudes in two sections towards the wearers face. On the ends of the protruded sections are square pads of fabric, which are presumably there to position on either side of the wearers nose. The mask has a reinforces rubberised fabric rim where it would be incontact with the face. The main rubber nozzle protrudes through the inside of the mask, forming a mouth piece. There are four black straps and one light brown colour strap stitched to the exterior rim of the mask.
