Historical information
The Dandenongs was, and continues to be, a popular, scenic destination for weekend tourists from Melbourne. The five black and white photographs were taken at or near Clematis Station on a hiking excursion in 1948 undertaken by two Melbourne couples who were close friends and who often went away on hiking trips on weekends. The slide, dated May 1960, is also taken at Clematis Station and is of one of the original women now married to one of the original men with their little daughter.
Significance
These photographs are of named hikers at a local train station. The photographs and slide have precise dates and a story attached.
