The Dandenongs was, and continues to be, a popular, scenic destination for weekend tourists from Melbourne. The five black and white photographs were taken at or near Clematis Station on a hiking excursion in 1948 undertaken by two Melbourne couples who were close friends and who often went away on hiking trips on weekends. The slide, dated May 1960, is also taken at Clematis Station and is of one of the original women now married to one of the original men with their little daughter.

This photograph shows one of the hikers, Keith Easterbrook, holding the shoe of his friend, Gordon Scambler. Gordon had removed his shoe because he had developed blisters on their walk.

This slide documents a return trip in May 1960 of one of the original hikers Hazel Scambler (nee Elderfield) now married to another of the hikers (Gordon Elderfield). The couple have a young daughter Raelle who is in the photograph holding her mother's hand.
