Historical information
The Dandenongs was, and continues to be, a popular, scenic destination for weekend tourists from Melbourne. This slide is connected to five black and white photographs located at or close to Clematis Railway Station and taken in 1948 on a hiking excursion by two young Melbourne couples. This slide documents a return trip in May 1960 of one of the original hikers Hazel Scambler (nee Elderfield) now married to another of the hikers (Gordon Elderfield). The couple have a young daughter Raelle who is in the photograph holding her mother's hand.
Significance
This slide and the photographs document a family story which is connected with Clematis Railway Station.
