In World War 2 residents of Victoria were concerned about enemy attack so a series of Spotters Huts were established along the coast. In Lorne the Spotters Hut was at Queenspark in the old recreation building. Many locals volunteered their time. The plaque was made by the Lorne Historical Society to honour these people who volunteered to join the Air Observers Corp. A rectangular thin Metal sheet , with black printing. This plaque was made in 1997 as a project of the Lorne Historical Society to pay tribute to the Spotters who worked in the spotters cabin at Queens Park Lorne during the Second World War. The magazine Picture News, published by the Herald and Weekly Times in December 1939, shows how sailors were entertained at the mission. The photographs depict sailors having a good time, dancing with the ladies from the guild and even Mrs Moira Oliver, Padre Oliver's wife, playing ping pong, sining with pianist Mrs Helen Ellis. Padre Oliver was then chaplain on the HMAS Australia, and Rev. Dixon Tracy was the interim chaplain at the mission.The photographs demonstrate the work of the mission during the war. Scots Presbyterian Church, Lake Bolac. The architect was Mr George Harriot and it was built of local bluestone by stonemason Mr Helme and completed in 1878. The Rev. Mr J S Muir took the opening service. Mrs John Moffat and Mrs William Veale laid the foundation stone. It was furnished by the existing Kauri pews but the present pulpit is not the original. After the wreck of the SS "Time" the bell come under the control of the "Receiver of Wrecks". St Aiden's Church of England, Parkdale, procured this bell from the "Receiver of Wrecks" for church purposes. On 29 July 1951 Rev F L Cuttriss dedicated the bell to church service. Apparently the "Sour" sound irritated some of the congregation. The Government first granted land for the building of a Presbyterian Church in Sunbury in Stawell Street and Barkly Street, in 1864 and a smaller building was later erected on the site. With much fanfare and anticipation the Grand Opening of Cornish College was held on Sunday the 12 February 2012. The hall was filled to capacity. It commenced with a Welcome by Rev Dr Robert Johnson, the Welcome to Country, National Anthem and Official Opening and Unveiling of the Plaque. The Bogong United Church began in Bogong Village under a non-resident Methodist in the year 1946 as a measure of convenience. The book was produced for a day of celebration to mark the 10th anniversary of the Church. In 1956 the Bogong United Church met for worship in Bogong, Mongan's Bridge, Mt Beauty and Tawonga and for Fellowship & Service there were 7 different groups mostly meeting in Mt Beauty. Minister at the time was Rev. John Goodluck, resident at 18 Kiewa Crescent, Mt Beauty.The Bogong United Church celebrated 10 years of co-operation with the Methodist and Presbyterian churches and was one of the first churches to do so. This fine wooden building is located in Browning Street, Orbost and is now (2022) used as the St Andrews Uniting Church Hall. These chairs originate from St Andrews Kirk, Ballarat, c1870s. The Rev William Henderson, Presbyterian Minister of Ballarat (1857 - 1886), founded Ballarat College in 1864. The chairs were is use in St Andrews Kirk during his tenure. At this time Ballarat College was situated in the grounds of St Andrews Kirk and remained there until 1912. In 1995 a plaque to this effect was erected in the grounds of St Andrews Kirk, and unveiled by Old Collegian and school Council member, Kenneth D Baird. Corporal Phillip Edward Cook, 4470, 46th Battalion AIF Over 300 men from the Shire of Whittlesea enlisted during WWI. One of these was Corporal Cook, son of the Rev. Richard and Elizabeth Cook, and husband of Jessie May Cook of Whittlesea. On 27 July 1915, at the age of 33, Phillip Cook enlisted in the AIF. He was killed in action at Bullecourt on 11 April 1917. Mary Forrest Gardner married Joseph Bartlett Davies on 6th February 1872 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Launceston, Tasmania. She was the sister-in-law of Sir Matthew Davies, first Australian-born Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Her father was the Rev. John Gardner. She died on 28th October 1887 and was buried at the Boroondara Cemetery. The Mentone Presbyterian Church was built as a memorial to her. The foundation stone of the church was laid by J.
