The tram is a maximum- traction bogie, drop-end-and-centre combination tram built by Duncan & Fraser, Adelaide in 1913 for the PMTT. This tram was built in 1917 by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide, for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust, Melbourne. It was number 26. It came to Ballarat in 1945 and numbered 15. In 1945 it was renumbered 36. It continued in service until the closure of the tramways in 1971. In September 1971 the tram was used in a promotion for Ballarat Tourism. Tram 37 was built by Duncan and Fraser , Adelaide, in 1916 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1960 and was in service until the trams in Ballarat stopped in 1971. It was a Bogie drop end and centre open combination tram. In 1971 it went to South Pacific Electric Railway/Sydney Tramway Museum. Cast brass, about 40mm in diameter with a right angle lug to enable a person to lift the window. Words "Duncan & Fraser" cast around the outside of the device and the words "Adelaide S.A." cast into the centre. Has been drilled with three countersunk holes. Has brown paint on the lifting portion. On the rear, possibly the letters "5L", scratched into the metal. If this is the case, could have indicated the fifth left hand window as an identification of location. Ballarat Tram 39 was built in 1914 by Duncan and Fraser Adelaide for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust where it was number 42. It was sold to the State Electricity Commission in 1951 and renumbered as Ballarat Tram 39. When the trams stopped running in 1971, it was acquired by Lismore Lions Club and displayed in a recreational reserve until purchased by the Museum in 1976. It was converted into a museum display and souvenir centre located at the depot until 2022.
