He migrated to Australia in 1870 and became a paramount plant nursery proprietor, operating extensive nurseries in Emerald,. Victoria and in Tasmania. His property in Emerald now constitutes Emerald Park. The bust was on display in Emerald Museum but is now lost.The bust provides a clear likeness of one of Emerald's most significant personages. The Nurseries, at their height in 1914, were considered to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and influenced the development of parks, streetscapes, private and public gardens throughout Australia. They also exported trees to several other countries.Two consecutively dated Account Books compiled by the Gembrook Nurseries (aka Nobelius Nurseries). Both are hard-cover volumes which are divided into two parts: account holders who are listed on A-Z tabbed pages followed by account records. One volume was used from 12 November 1893 to 15 June 1902. Rupert was the son of Carl Axel Nobelius, the famous Emerald horticulturalist. This clock was a gift from the son of the famous Emerald horticulturalist, Carl Axel Nobelius.Ansonia mantle clock with ornate oak case with metal pendulum and a brass key c1940s. Round metal face with Roman numerals.
