From the South Bourke and Mornington Journal: April 18, 1888.

"A meeting was held at the Ringwood Hall on Saturday evening to protest against the action of the Education Department in delaying the erection of the State School, and in hiring the local hall for school purposes without first consulting the Board of Advice.
The various speakers strongly condemned the action of the Government, not only with regard to the State School but their neglect to provide proper police protection and a lock-up and to establish a Court of Petty Sessions. A deputation was appointed to lay before the Minister concerned the views of the Meeting."
