JESS WRITES from 4 CORNERS
Would it be Sir Ronald East, K.B. (Mlbne), M.Inst.C.E., M.A.M.Soc. C.E., M.I.E. (Aust.), chairman of State Rivers and Water Supply? (Eastern Post, 18/6/69)
Would it be Professor Stanley Porteus, one time professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of the Psychological Clinic at the University of Hawaii?
Or would it be brilliant journalist Allan Dawes or maybe Arthur Aird, chief police prosecutor for many years?
Or would the youngsters think it is curly-mop Doug Ashdown, now gaining popularity as a singer on the young scene. Doug lived in Arlington St. and attended the school before moving to Adelaide. Although he has been singing very profitably in South Australia for some years, he only started writing his own songs a year or so ago. He has several LPs on the market and his new record, "The Day They Freed the Noise," is doing very well.
And who are we looking for? Ringwood State School's most famous ex-pupils.
All this talk of ex-students came out at the meeting of the Historical Society on Friday night, when Mr Baines, the headmaster, spoke on the history of the school.
