The Springthorpe Memorial is a monument dedicated to Annie Springthorpe, located in the Boroondara General Cemetery. Commissioned by her grieving husband, Dr. John Springthorpe, it became a collaboration between Betram Mackennal, William Guilfoyle, and Harold Desbrowe-Annear. The stone structure is well noted for its marble statues depicting the deceased with an angel, and the impressive architecture that surrounds it. First unveiled in 1901, it became a heritage building in 1982 and has undergone conservation and repair works. The file includes: Three copies of Joseph Lis’ ‘The Love that Never Dies’, which analyses and contextualises the memorial, correspondence with the City of Kew regarding the adoption of the memorial into heritage list, newspaper articles, and a grant proposal for the conservation of the memorial.
