George Wharton was the first Mayor (at the time Chairman) of what would become the City of Kew between 1862 and 1863. He was known as a prominent architect in Nineteenth Century Melbourne, and was the surveyor of the land that would become the Borough of Kew before his accession to the role of Chairman. He was responsible for the building of many different churches and houses around Melbourne. Wharton would die in 1890, and would be buried in the Boroondara General Cemetery. The file includes: written research into George Wharton, scans of emails sent between the Kew Historical Society and a Rosalie Wharton, and a screenshot of information on his grave.
